BluePrint Methodology

SMS follows a customized CMMI-Level 2 certified process to deliver high quality IT solutions to Federal and commercial customers. Our Blueprint Methodology incorporates elements of industry best practices and has been improved through 18 years of lessons learned.

The SMS Blueprint Methodology is derived from industry standard best practices – including the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), SEI's CMMI Level 2/3 processes, ITIL processes and ISO 9000 standards. It incorporates elements of Agile Development, the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and Rapid Application Development (RAD) and has been used on over 300 software design and delivery projects.

Through a series of iterative steps that provide clear definition and transparency into all activities taken, SMS delivers services to scope, on time and within budget. Our approach begins with a strong program management and governance model – to ensure step-by-step alignment and discipline from project start to finish. Our projects achieve measurable results that meet or exceed our customers' expectations. This approach is repeatable and flexible, allowing us to respond to the unique requirements of any project while adhering to a clearly defined, controlled methodology that has proven successful across all of SMS' engagements.

The Blueprint Methodology has been used extensively within both the Federal and commercial space to deliver a wide range of solutions including program and project management, software design and development, testing services, business analysis and business process engineering.

This Blueprint Methodology is divided into a repeatable and iterative sequence of activities that assist project managers in obtaining successful results on both large-scale and small-scale development projects.
