SMS performs Nationwide rollout of EVVE application.
The National Association for Public Health Statistics and Information Systems (NAPHSIS) to develop and implement a Nationwide electronic system that allows immediate confirmation of the information presented by an applicant to a government office anywhere in the nation irrespective of the place or date of issuance. Authorized Federal and State agency users, via a single interface, can generate an electronic query to any participating vital records jurisdiction throughout the country to verify the contents of a paper birth certificate or to request an electronic certification (in lieu of the paper birth certificate). An electronic response from the participating vital records jurisdiction either verifies or denies the match with official jurisdiction records. It will also flag positive responses where the person matched is now deceased. As designed, queries can be generated and matched against 250 million birth records in jurisdiction vital record databases nationwide. The Electronic Verification of Vital Events (EVVE) system is also capable of supporting the electronic verification and/or electronic certification of death/marriage/divorce records.
EVVE is a hub-based communications platform consisting of three major modules: the Management Interface (EVVE-MI), the Hub (EVVE-HUB), and the State Interface (EVVE-SI). The Management Interface provides a web-based user interface for jurisdiction, agency, NAPHSIS, and hub administration users. The Hub handles requests that come directly from an agency's system or from the Management Interface. It routes these requests to the proper jurisdiction and records billable events. The State Interface is installed at each jurisdiction and manages interactivity with the Hub and with the jurisdiction's databases.
