Systems Made Simple awarded Prime Contractor role in major VA technology contract

Systems Made Simple, Inc. (SMS), a leading provider of IT systems and services which support critical architecture, data and application challenges in the healthcare industry, announced it has been selected to be one of 14 prime technology contractors on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology (T4) contract. SMS received one of the seven awards reserved for certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses.

The T4 program, one of the largest existing campaigns being undertaken by the Federal government, will manage information technology (IT) contracts within the Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Benefits Administration and National Cemetery Administration through a single indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract. T4 encompasses a broad range of IT and telecommunications services, including program management and strategy planning; systems and software engineering; enterprise network, test and evaluation; independent verification and validation; cyber-security; operations and maintenance; and training and IT facility support.

SMS was selected from more than 100 companies who responded to the RFP issued in July 2010, and will have the opportunity over the next five years to bid on an estimated $12 billion in task orders. T4 is the largest IDIQ contract won by SMS to-date.

This initiative was established by the VA as a proactive way to improve the life of veterans by closing gaps in acquiring IT services to integrate systems, networks and software. Task orders announced under T4 will be competed among the selected pool of prime contractors, ensuring more flexibility for the VA to quickly award tasks orders and move forward with critical IT projects.

The T4 project was established and is managed by the VA's Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) in Eatontown, NJ, an office that provides a foundation for the VA's acquisition community. The TAC presented topics including the proposed acquisition strategy, organizational conflicts of interest (OCI), the Performance Work Statement (PWS), and the VA's small business commitment at the T4 Industry Day on April 23, 2010.
